What is the meaning of Pentecost?Pentecost is a significant event in Christianity that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31). This event took place on the 50th day after Easter Sunday (including Easter Day in the count), hence the name Pentecost, which comes from the Greek word "pentēkostē," meaning "fiftieth." It marks the birth of the Christian Church and the beginning of its mission to the world.
