Jitsi Multi-Bridge Conferences

TODO: collapasable, copyable, download, etc

For a Jitsi meet open source video conferencing system, can a single meeting be split across two video bridges? Or is each conference limited to a single video bridge? In Jitsi Meet, it is possible to use multiple video bridges (JVBs) for a single conference, which is known as "bridge cascading." This is particularly useful for large conferences with many participants, as it distributes the load and reduces the risk of a single JVB being overwhelmed.

When a conference grows beyond the capacity of a single JVB, Jitsi Meet can automatically split the conference across multiple video bridges. The Jitsi Videobridge Selector (Jicofo) is responsible for selecting and managing the JVBs. It does this by monitoring the load on each bridge and allocating new participants to the least-loaded bridge. This allows the conference to scale horizontally by adding more JVBs as needed.

However, keep in mind that implementing and managing multiple JVBs can be more complex than using a single video bridge. It requires additional configuration and infrastructure setup to ensure proper load balancing and fault tolerance. If you plan to deploy a Jitsi Meet instance with multiple JVBs, be sure to consult the relevant documentation and guides to ensure a smooth implementation.
